Weebly

Weebly is a website in which you can create your own web page. In a classroom you can create an assignment in which student have to create and design their own web page on any topic in which they choose. Creating your own website can be a daunting challenge for some students but for others it can be an opportunity to explore their ICT skills and create a page that is individual. Many students relish the opportunity to use computers in a classroom environment. It breaks up the day to day workings of using textbooks and being talked at by teachers. In creating an activity or assignment that allows the students to contribute their individual thoughts and ideas into the creation of a webpage will enhance their learning.

  1. Hello Courtney,
I like the idea of Weebly. I believe it can interest and engage students in such a way that they are learning without even realising it. It is fun and interactive, and being on the web, it relates to most student's real lives as well. Most students grow up using the internet, however I do have a concern for students who have not grown up using ICTs. In a situation like this, where an assignment focuses on using Weebly, what do students do who are not computer literate? Do you make it a group assignment so that you can pair student's off, having one student computer literate and one not? It's just a concern I have of giving only one option for an assignment. But in saying that, knowing how to create a website is a great tool to leave school with. Many jobs now require employees to understand the computer.

    Yours' kindly,
    Rebecca
